About Census

The US Census Bureau conducts a decennial census. Data is collected every 10 years about households, education, income, homeownership, etc. The information is published to the Explore Census Data can be used to produce tables and maps of the available statistics. Much of the data is available at the tract and municipal level. Visit Explore Census Data, US Census Bureau Marathon County Quick Facts, and The American Community Survey page.

Redistricting

Redistricting occurs after each decennial Census. The purpose of Redistricting is to ensure equal representation in government; 1 person, 1 vote. The process involves re-drawing the boundaries for government offices. Each district must have substantially equal population.

Marathon County's Supervisory District plan meets the substantially equal population requirement and was designed to respect municipal boundaries where possible.
