Per Wisconsin State Statute 26.03, Harvest of raw forest products. 1(m) Harvesting upon notification. Unless otherwise authorized to do so by the County, no person may harvest any raw forest products or direct the harvesting of any raw forest products, from any land until 14 days after the Clerk of the County in which the land is located is notified of the person's proposal to harvest. 

Applying for a Timber Cutting Permit 

We encourage you to fill out timber cutting notices online, or send them by fax or email. Please note that all fields must be completed, including PIN numbers and email addresses in order for a timber cutting permit to be issued.

Ways you can apply:

  • Come to the County Clerk’s Office in person to fill out the request
  • Fax completed timber cutting request to 715-261-1515
  • Mail completed timber cutting request to:  County Clerk, 500 Forest Street, Wausau, WI  54403
  • E-mail completed timber cutting request to the County Clerk's Office david.holcomb@co.marathon.wi.us 
  • Please make sure that all fields on the form are complete, including landowner and cutter's email. Incomplete forms will be returned and will not be processed.
